While You Slumbered

Your tiny body rested upon my chest. I could feel you breathing deeply. In and out, in and out. Your warm breath whistled on my neck reminding me of a gentle breeze on a warm summers day. Your tiny hands clenched into fists. Occasionally one would go into your mouth and you would briefly suck on it. Comforting you as you slept. Once in awhile you would snore. A tiny whistling noise from your perfect button nose. Your dark eye brows raised and fell ever so slightly while you dreamt. A slight flutter of you eye lashes made me think you were waking up, but you to slumber. I watched and waited, hoping you would sleep for hours and continue to cuddle with me. You turned your head to the side and sleep marks from your blanket were embedded on your cheek. You heaved a heavy sigh and awakened. Refreshed, alert and ready to take on the world around you. I could watch you sleep forever.

What we are doing lately...

This weekend Franks going to go visit a friend in Seattle, while Alex and I play at home.(shop, stroller rides with friends, etc.) In March we are going to visit my family in Idaho and Franks fam is coming to see us(mostly Alex I am sure) at my parents house. Lately we have been staying buisy just playing with Alex and being amazed at how fast he is growing. Frank's work is going well. The little bit of time I work is good for me to get out of the house. I am still writing and hoping to get a story published in Chicken Soup for the Soul. We are loving Texas winter weather except for the golf ball sized hail that damaged our roof... There goes some of our tax refund! We hope you are enjoying our blog!!!

Cute things Alex does...

Alex laughs and smiles all of the time now. We toss him in the air, bite his toes, blow on his tummy, and Frank even smells his diaper and says"no poo here," and that gets a loud hoot out of him. We have been video taping him, so as soon as we figure out how to put the recordings together we will share them.

Nicknames For Alex

Alex's nick names are, pooh bear(mom calls him that when he's being snuggly and getting ready to go to bed-his room is done in all winnie the pooh), pollito or polli(pronounced poy-e-toe or poy-e(dad and mom call him that all of the time. It is little chicken in spanish. No, we dont think our son is a chicken, we just like how the cute little name sounds.)

Learning as we go...

Alex has been getting bigger and bigger! He is now 5 months old. We are loving every minute we have with him. Dad jumped the gun and had a dvd player installed in my jeep for Alex to be entertained by. He isnt sitting forward in the seat yet, so maybe I'll sit in the back with him and watch movies while Frank drives. Being a new parent I have taken him to the Dr twice and it only turned out to be boogers. Who knew?! I bought a nose suction and Frank tried to pour saline into it thinking thats how it worked.... Yes we are really learning as we go.
